Ice Sports Bodies
ISA consulted widely with both national and state ice-sports bodies throughout the Icehouse's planning and development to ensure that the facilities would meet the needs of ice sports for competition and training. The Icehouse is compliant with the regulations of each of the international ice sports bodies to enable national and international events, and world championships to be held.
ISA arranged for the Icehouse to be the official home for the Victorian ice-sports bodies to run their key programs. ISA worked closely with these bodies to promote to government the need for improved ice-sports facilities in Victoria, which led to state government support of the Icehouse and a financial contribution in support of these bodies.
ISA also works closely with the national bodies to run key national programs and championships at the Icehouse.
The Icehouse is the home to Melbourne Ice, the Melbourne-based hockey team in the Australian National Ice Hockey League's national competition. Melbourne Ice plays its home matches and trains at the Icehouse.
